2011 Twins Opener // Target Field

Hey Friends,

We have been looking forward to the Twins opener for quite some time. Nothing ushers in Spring in Minnesota like a game on a sunny afternoon. We had the opportunity to put together a short film that we hoped would represent a fan’s point of view and experience as they journeyed into another season of Twins baseball. I hope you enjoy this clip and we hope to have more to share in the future. -M

The Wedding Giveaway

Hi Friends!

I am excited to share an incredible opportunity with all of you. Check it out, you won’t regret it.

Announcing Our 2011 Capture Workshops

Hello Friends!  We are really excited to offer 2 different workshops this spring. There have been a lot of people asking if we were going to do this and so we went out and created 2 unique workshop experiences that will work for people with with all experience levels. EMAIL MATT with any questions. Here we go:

INTRO TO DSLR FILMMAKING // A Classroom Experience

This is for people looking to get into making films with their DSLR camera.

Join us for a half-day DSLR video workshop. We will be covering an introduction to the video side of the Canon 5dmk2, Canon 7d and Canon T2i. Our time together will include an in-depth look at the cameras, lenses, stabilization, workflow, editing and story telling techniques we employ as a studio.

The workshop will include classroom-style teaching, times for Q+A and an opportunity to get hands-on with tools like Steadicams, linear tracking systems and external audio setups. The workshop fee includes lunch and approximately 4 hours of training.

We are offering 2 identical classroom experiences, one on April 12th and another on April 13th. The workshop fee is $500 and limited to 10 attendees each day.

THE CAPTURE COLLECTIVE // An Interactive Experience

This is our premier workshop experience, which is geared towards people looking to push their DSLR filmmaking to the next level.

Join us for a 3 day interactive workshop experience hosted at the Semple Mansion, one of Minneapolis’ most incredible wedding and event venues.

We will be working through things like portfolio critique, our approach to event and corporate filmmaking, advanced story-telling, camera/audio/lighting gear, advanced DSLR workflow, color grading and much more.

Over the course of the experience, we will be shooting the basic components of a wedding story, using the mansion as a backdrop and applying what we learn in classroom sessions immediately through shooting assignments. As a group we will concept, shoot and edit a short wedding film, so each attendee will walk away with real, hands-on experience. You will work with steadicams, cinevate tracks, lighting setups, audio gear and all the advanced tools we use to create our films.

We are offering this workshop on April 19th-21st and all meals will be included in the workshop fee. You will be responsible for lodging if you are coming from out of town, but we can assist in lining that up. The workshop fee is $1200 and limited to 8 attendees.

We Need Your Vote!

Hi Friends,

Each year Minnesota Bride hosts the “Best Of” Awards. These go out to vendors in each wedding category, and last year we won “best videographer”. It was such an honor to know so many people supported us and voted. Today is the last day to vote for the 2011 awards, so if you have a minute, please CLICK HERE to cast a vote for Capture Studios. You need  to vote in 6 categories, so here are LAST YEAR’S WINNERS if you need some help.

Voting ends tonight at midnight. We appreciate your vote so much. -Matt and the Capture Crew

Capture Internships // Summer 2011

Hi Friends,

We are excited to offer 2 summer internships for the 2011 wedding season. If you, or someone you know, might be willing and able to hang with our crew for a serious wedding season, please email me at matt@thecaptureblog.com.

We are looking for:

1. Production Intern // This person would be responsible to our team on the shooting side of things. You should be Canon DSLR proficient (or ready to learn), have a good understanding of what Capture Studios does and be extremely good on the fly. You might be a PA on a wedding shoot, commercial shoot, or anything else we might need. You should be able to lift a bag of mono/tripods and may even get to try on a steadicam vest. If you are lucky.

2. Post-Production Intern // This person would be responsible to our team on the editing side of things. You should be Apple Final Cut Pro proficient, understand post-production workflow, and enjoy sitting in front of a 27″ Apple monitor for most of your summer. You would work closely with our editing process and walk away with an appreciation for the outdoors. Forget about your tan, you can get that next summer.

We think internships are cool. You will be treated swell and have a lot of opportunities to hang with the cool kids. Think 30-40 hours per week from May-August, lots of Starbucks runs and maybe a few rides in my 1990 VW Cabriolet Convertible with our puggle on your lap. His name is Bean, but he answers to “treat”.

Again, email me if you are interested so we can talk specifics.
